Mosses in Motion
Tiny plants with grand importance & dynamic responses to water!
This website includes my research, tools for moss identification, and events in bryophyte ecology! Learn about the beauty and diversity of mosses in my videos and images here:
As a plant ecologist and physiologist, I specialize in the diversity, ecology, and physiology of bryophytes (mosses, liverworts, & hornworts).
Much of my research focuses on some of the smallest and most drought tolerant mosses in the world. In drylands, these tiny plants provide grand ecosystem services like nutrient harvesting, soil stabilization, and water retention.
You can learn to find dryland bryophytes yourself by studying my habitat photos and videos on this site. If you really want to learn more, stay tuned for my upcoming moss classes, which I hold around the country.
I hope you'll discover a taste of dryland moss charisma and ecological importance here!
